Nail of the Day - Sinful Rise and Shine

Hello! Another day another polish. I was going to paint this on my toes only but fell in love with the color and couldn't resist. It's Rise and Shine from Sinful Colors Adventure Island Collection. There were a few good OPI Pirates dupes in the collection, but this one was unique to the Sinful collection.  It's an amazing color. The formula was good....thicker than normal, but at least I only needed two coats of polish. The color is a great green, leaning toward a blue green color. It was really hard to photograph this color. It just would not work with my camera.  This photo is the closest to the color, but does it no justice. It is a darker shade than what you see here, but you can really see the shimmer in the color here. It is a kelly green color but with blue mixed in.  One interesting thing about this formula is that it dried to a matte finish. I added a layer of topcoat. It's a great bright color for summer, and a bargain at 1.99.

Review: Milani Lip Flash Lipstick Pencil

So I was on a Milani kick and also picked up this lip pencil.  There are a bunch of other Milani items I plan to pick up so you will be seeing more reviews from me soon.

This is the Lip Flash lipstick pencil. Wow...can you say bright! I picked up 04- photo flash. The site says that it is Fuchsia with gold and fuchsia shimmer.  It is definitely a hot pink color.  I personally love hot pink so this was calling my name.  And it is PACKED with glitter. I applied it on my lips and it went on really smooth. It has a lot of glitter but doesn't really feel gritty.  Although it is more of a lipstick formula than gloss it goes on like a satin lipstick with loads of glitter. I like it more glossy so I add a clear gloss over.  It really makes the glitter pop even more. I really liked this pencil so I plan to pick up some more shades. It's not wearable for daily use since it has so much glitter but is great for a night time look.  I also tried out the Hard Candy pencils, I will do a review soon.  And I would say that I like the Milani version is better. It is a hard stick so easy to apply and yet still deposits a true color.

The glitter did not photograph well, but the color seems pretty accurate from the first pic.  The second is to try to see the glitter.  If you are not shy, go for it. It's a great color and the tons of glitter is awesome.

I got mine at Target, but you can also get it at CVS. The link to the Milani site is:]http://www.milanicosmetics.com/p-82-lip-flash.aspx

This is the site description: The electric lip look is defined with highly pigmented flashy shimmer colors. Create news worthy lips with extra glossy, high color coverage and moisture rich ingredients. A sharpenable, easy to use, anti-feathering and nontacky lip gloss pencil.

They are reasonably priced at 6.99.

Overall, I give them an A.

Review: Milani LIQUIF'EYE Metallic Eyeliner Pencil - Aqua

I picked up this liner when I was last at Target. I had wanted to try this shade based on some reviews I had seen. I only picked up the Aqua shade so that I could see how I liked it. I tend to have fairly oily skin, especially in the hot summer we are having.  So I typically use gel liners versus pencils since they wear better on me.  The only pencils I have found so far that are great on wear are the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils.  Well....mover over UD, looks like you have some Milani competition!  I love this pencil!

The aqua color is amazing! Just a beautiful and bright shade of blue. it really stands out especially against tan skin.  I would suggest this color to anyone, especially if you are not shy and can wear bright, bold colors.  The photos I attached do not do it any justice. It looks almost green in the pix but it is really a true aqua blue color.  It is slightly metallic, but not a full metal liner.

It applies very smooth and creamy but sets quickly, you do have enough time to blend though.  It lasts for a good 8 hours without any creasing or smudging. It is a really impressive and long-wearing formula.  I even tried to take it off in the shower with my regular face soap and I still had to go back with my Almay eye makeup remover pads.  It has a nice package, very sleek looking. The color is true to what it looks like, not watered down at all.

Sorry for the crappy pix. I don't have my camera and had to use my cell phone :(

I bought mine at Target, but I can also find it at CVS. You can also check out the Milani site: http://www.milanicosmetics.com/p-74-liquif-eye-metallic-eyeliner-pencil.aspx

Overall Rating: A++

Maybelline The Falsies Flared Review

Sorry it has been FOREVER since my last post. I am still getting used to blog updating. I wanted to share with you a review on Maybelline's Falsies Flared mascara.

I dont have any personal pix so here is the site:
http://www.maybelline.ca/products/116/eyes/mascara/volum-express-falsies-flared-washable/very-black/0?shadeId=607

I want to start by saying that I love the first falsies mascara so really wanted to love this one as well. I wasn’t thrilled with the formula at first so I tried it for a week to see if it would settle in. It didn’t really.

Formula/Brush: Formula seems ok. Was on the wetter side which is typical for Maybelline. I dont like dry mascara so I was happy. And it was washable so I really like that. The brush seemed like it would be nice. The first falsies is curved like a spoon top to bottom if that makes sense. Now they switched the spoon so that its' side to side. So it's basically a flat wall of bristle coming at you. The brush is good for length and curling the lashes. It’s a regular brush, not molded plastic so that’s also nice. It also has a flexible middle that allows the brush to bend, which is interesting..so the brush gives with your lashes.

Application and Wear: This is where it all went downhill. It seemed to apply ok. At first it wasn’t as dark or deep as the regular falsies. Almost too light of a look. But I think that’s because it gave a more separate and defined, lenghthened lash. So with the definition it lost the bulk volume. I would say its more length than volume. I used three coats. It didn’t flake at all so that was good. But it did curl the ends of my lashes down, so it seems the formula is heavier than the regular falsies. This really was a let down.
Overall…I thought it would give more of a full look, but it didn’t. It gave more length which is ok but I don't like mascara curling the lashes down. I give this one a C.
